After renewing suspension bushes the next thing to look at will have to be the Anti-roll bars, the bars themselves and the mounting bushes. Preventing body roll comes before lowering.

Thanks for all the good advice guys. Sounds like front & rear poly or M solid rubber bushes and new ARB bushes to start. I love the way the lowered cars look.....

I am in Joburg but Cape Town is one of my favorite cities on the planet.

My M has been polybushed front to back, the last ones being the rear beam done 3 years after the rest. The poly bushes will make the car a bit harsher, but I noticed the beam bushes more than the rest, in hind sight I would have gone for OEM beam bushes as that makes a huge difference in ride quality IMO. However I guess mixing bush types could be a poor decision too??

I think I will go for poly bushes in the front and M solid rubber ones in the back. As far as I know the M bushes will fit at the back.

BMW spend significant resource finding the best compromise for road cars. First step for me is to ensure all component parts are in serviceable condition. Car should then handle as designed. After that, it depends on what you wish to achieve and compromise you will be content with in terms of comfort and additional wear to other components. Simples really.:)

Agreed. I am told it is all in good shape. The guy who looks after it races e30's and is known as Mr e30 locally. A couple of weeks ago he went over it from top to tail and assures me its in good shape. Its always had the rear steer thing at speed and turn in has never been particularly sharp. From what i read it's how they left the factory and period road tests point out this and the contrast to the m roadster which does not seem to have these attributes.
Thanks for your reply.

Just to throw my current situation in the ring, I have standard shocks and lowering springs. I didnt have the funds at the time for coilovers so went along this route and I love the stance and handling on my car

Thanks for your reply. What springs did you go with? How has your tyre wear been and do you have some side and rear pics.

They are apex springs I have. Fairly cheap ones. The rest chamber is quite alot, EVERYONE comments on it after driving behind. The tyre wear really hasnt been that bad considering I drive fairly spirited. I've done at least 6k

Thanks for your reply. It looks great. Unfortunately only some of your photos show. The rest are black squares.

I think I will go for poly bushes in the front and M solid rubber ones in the back. As far as I know the M bushes will fit at the back.
I wasn't even aware that solid M rubber bushes were a thing for the e30 back end. I knew solid M rubber bushes were available for the lollipops at the e36-based front, which I plan to do at some point. Mine had poly'd lollipops when I bought it. I swapped these back to standard OEM rubber when I replaced the wishbones and noticed turn-in was slightly softer. I then replaced the front shocks, springs etc with OEM items when they were knackered.

I'm happy with the standard height and ride because I like the comfort. The thought of tightening it up around the edges with M-spec bushes at the front (and now rear too, apparently) is very appealing though.

Yes I got that wrong. The m roadster seems to have solid rubber rear cross member bushes. When I checked on realoem the part number for the rear suspension bushes is the same. So I have ordered solid m bushes for the front and poly rear subframe mounts.

Edit Got that wrong too. Its the E30 M3 that has the solid rubber subframe bushes. I would guess they would fit the Z.

That's true, as I have said to another member just now I sometimes expect people to know what I know coming from the car industry.
