The deed is done she Is now on the market.

Z3M with 84,000 Miles still being used daily (comes with 3 keys)
Registered 15th September 1998 (Vin: LB06532)
MOT Expires 15th March 2016 (Done at Ridgeway BMW)
Artic Silver with black and grey interior
This car has been my pride and joy the last two years and has nearly attended every BMW show in that time. I have covered nearly 30,000 miles in the two years and enjoyed every minute. She has been garaged the whole time throughout my ownership, she’s in full working order with no leaky roof and along the way I have tastefully upgraded, uprated parts. List as follows:
• Black Diamond Discs/Pads front and rear (Drilled and grooved)
• Braded hoses all round including clutch hose (z3’s suffer with a hard clutch peddle)
• Koni adjustable shocks (soft or hard ride) 30mm lowering springs
• Rebuilt chassis with power flex bushes
• Replaced Fuel tank (had dreaded fuel tank rattle)
• Hayward & Scott exhaust system (Beautiful deep throaty noise)
• Strong Strut brace on the front to improve handling and reduce tramlining
• Storm Motorworks Gear knob/handbrake and lighter blank. (Interior)
• Rebuilt Diff- No more diff clonk (New seals and bearings)
She has all your extras like a Tonneau cover for when the roof is down. Indoor car cover, Mesh wind deflector. These are costly extras becoming hard to find.

Cosmetically I have just changed the whole look of the car. She did have a white wrap which I have since removed. While doing this I had the front and rear bumper resprayed along with the mirrors and the wheels powder coated satin black. Then to match the wheels the mirrors, front grills and boot insert were also wrapped in satin black. This can be removed at any time to return the car to standard. I also had a dent guy go round the car removing every car park dink leaving the bodywork flawless.
This car is very well known in the Z3 community and has various build threads along the way. It will be a shame to see her go. Hopefully the new owner will share the same passion that I have put into her. I have an archive with 100’s of photos showing all time and effort that has been spent.

As she stands at the moment I’m about to service her and replace the rear tyres. I have Falken 453’s fitted all-round. Other recent works over the winter include new pistons and seals to the front callipers. I’ve had the Aircon re-gassed last month these invoices are present.

She does have her faults; after all she is 17 years old. The sills that bolt on under the doors will need a respray in the future. You can’t see any rust but you can on the edges under the car. These unbolt and can be repainted. The bonnet has a few stone chips and was next on my list of things to do over the winter. The driver’s seat is starting to show signs of wear on the bolster, nothing major but again will need doing in the near future.

The rear sub frames are known to crack and pop boot welds, I have kept a good eye on this throughout my ownership and all looks healthy. The S50 Vanos is another item that’s known to rattle. It’s been replaced by BMW in the past, the seals have also been replaced a couple of years ago. She has a quiet growl just above tick over but this is common for the S50 Vanos and does not affect the performance, this is closely being monitored by BMW when she has her MOT’s. Personally I would get an uprated unit from Mr Vanos to make the car future proof, another item on the to-do list but this is certainly not necessary, I’m just a perfectionist.

If one you Poms would offer me a job over there I would likely take her off your hands and bring her back to Australia 1 year of so later. Mind you I would also buy one for the wife and resell over here to help bring the cost down! :)

Cheers,

Starting to get some interest now. Had a few emails and the odd call. I'm at Gaydon BMW show this weekend so I've told people to come look at her there.

Too cheap lee! Great car. Gutted you are selling her!
Quite possibly. The other S50 in silver but totally standard sold for around 20k.
Now that had nearly 50k miles so not low enough to be highly collectable and being 'only' the S50 not as rare as s54/coupes.
If it was bought as drivers car it will likely need work at that age (suspension, bushes, cooling).

Lee's one represents a great example of one you can actually use 'guilt free' without watching the mileage and after having a drive in it can say it drives like a new car because of the maintenance it gets and all the major jobs already done.
