Hi, I would like to change my soft top, this winter so Im ready in time for nest summer. There are a bit of rips but till now it does not leak. I have found a quote on eBay for 375£ with the back window. Any good contacts and recommendations lads?

Hi, Ally I had a quote from discount car hoods in New Milton for £550:( so £375 sounds good were are they based
if you let the forum know ? somebody may have used them?

There is a place in Croydon that does it for around 350. Has received great reviews, I think some members on here have used them.

There is another place in Croydon, I think that's called 'car hood warehouse' but they are around 600 I think (going by the old invoice in my cars history file).

Sorry can't remember exact details.

Myself and @gookah both went to soft-tops in Croyden and had new hoods fitted. He supplies them in black or blue and they are fully fitted for £325. Takes him between 2 and 3 hours to fit and his workmanship is excellent, as is the quality of the hoods he fits. Rear windows are sewn in and the hood's don't feature the relief pockets (he does do theses for an extra cost though I believe) but you can't go wrong for the price. I would and have recommended this place time and time again, as do a lot of other members who have been there.

Thanks a lot for your posts, the pictures of the roof does look brand new. Will contact the chap in Croydon. Guess he's also there on eBay.

Had my replacement soft top from Soft-tops in Croydon earlier this year. He will add the relief pocket feature if asked. They were not fitted on the early cars and were added to reduce tension and wear on the hood when it was folded. I think it was an extra £50. This link explains what the pockets do http://workshop-manuals.com/bmw/3_s..._si__soft_top_abrasion_areas_e36_z3_roadster/.
As @g8jka says he does a good job and the materials he uses seem very good. Apart from the sewn in rear screen another difference to the original is that my replacement does not have the stiffener bar above the rear screen. I use a length of foam pipe insulation to help keep the screen smoothly curved as it folds.

Many Thanks for the link and your response. will check it out

+1 for soft tops Croydon I had mine done this year and the quality and workmanship is excellent and he's a real genuine bloke.

I also used him a few years back when I had a mk1 golf cabriolet and after taking the rear window out he found the rear frame had rotted out and when he showed me it was in a real state and he even managed to sort me out a new rear framework for £50 and didn't even charge any extra for fitting it.

I wouldn't use anyone else for a soft top

I'm keeping an eye on this as I am replacing mine over winter/early next year. It's a day out for me to Croyden and back but his price seems very reasonable and the reports back always seem good which goes along way. Please keep the feedback coming.
