Snowflakes

It is getting into cricket
It starts with sledging on the pitch. Can’t expect the crowd not to do the same.
That said, some of the stuff is incredibly funny. Some directed at the Aussies (as a nation rather than any individual) at Edgbaston was hilarious. They gave as good as they got though.

True but it's not outright racist though is it?

Tony.

I remember Rod Marsh (Aussie keeper) telling some poor sad lonesome pommie batsman that he'd better make sure he hit the next ball because if he missed it would tear his head off. Lillie polished the ball and licked his lips.

It’s interesting that the entire crowd at a cricket match can chant against another culture and it’s considered good natured, hilarious even, and the team on the receiving end react in good humour. Nobody files a complaint and life goes on. That’s possibly because the Aussies are not walking round with a huge chip on their shoulders with the backing of a very vocal Aussie Rights Movement.
The minute a black person gets the same treatment it’s a totally different ball of bananas. Positive discrimination is very damaging, and many of you have been brainwashed into going along with it.

Do u mean they need to grow a pair and get on with it

Sad, but it seems some just can't understand the difference between 'banter' and racial abuse. When the ref is called a 'Blind barsteward' nobody actually believes he's blind or indeed illegitimate. It's all very 'tongue in cheek' and as some have said, the insults traded are often hilarious. However, when someone likens a black player to an ape it is suggesting that he is of an inferior sub-human race. The insult may have come from someone who does not really believe that to be the case, but there are still plenty that do and accepting this behaviour condones racism.Whether or not this is intentional. Do we want to see the racist slogans, Nazi salutes etc, that occurred during the England game against Bulgaria ?
Black players don't object any more than white players about being told they are playing like 't...sers' or whatever, but to suggest they are less than human because of skin colour is plain ignorance.
