I have a karcher k2 pressure washer and I'm after a snow foam lance.

I've seen that karcher have their own which I can pick up from halfords for about £12.

However I wanted advice on what's good. I've read on many detailing forums that autobrite make a good lance, some have brass fittings etc etc.

What's the difference?

I can understand that some foams are better than others but the lance itself?!

How is one better than another?

Cheers.

I'd go with autobrite or a recommendation on detailing world. I don't think the karcher one is well regarded over there

I've had got an Autobrite one also, had a couple of cheap ones off eBay and they were pretty crap. Only thing I find is that the gauze filter needs cleaning out every 3/4 washes otherwise it goes watery, this was never a problem with the original Autobrite lances. I also use Autobrites Magifoam but there are plenty of others out there which I'm sure do just as good a job.

The genuine Karcher ones are not worth it at all, unless you just want to use it for a rinse wax after washing as they don't produce any foam at all.

Thanks. I'll drop in to Parkers tomorrow to see if they stock this. Ideally wanted it for the weekend but I'd rather buy once than twice so may have to order online and wait.

Hi Faheem,if you really want one for the weekend you could go to shop n shine in Derby, they stock good quality brass ones, not sure what make they are though.
I have one from there and use it with my Karcher, same as yours and it's been very good. I rinse it through after each use and it works spot on all the time.

Or if you'd like to try one first you're welcome to borrow mine as I don't use it much through summer.

@Bozzy That's a 50 mile round trip :D would be a very expensive snow foam lance. My zed hasn't been washed in over a month and a half and I use it everyday... You should see the state of it  longest its gone without a wash.

I'm going to go ahead and wash it and the snow foam can wait for now.

Sorry to hijack just a little :). I bought the Nilfisk 130 bar which was recommended by you guys and it's great, really pleased with it. The only thing is it keeps blowing the water hose off at either end and drives me mad. Any advice thanks.

I presume its the garden hose from the tap to the pressure washer? Have you tried different fittings on either end?

I don't know what the brass ones are like really, I have never tried them. I would be worried in case it did decide to blow off though with a brass one and hit the car. I have always just used plastic and never had problems, but for a few quid it's worth trying in case they are worn. Apart from that I wouldn't know what else.

@Grumpy does the bit on the pressure washer unscrew? If it does probably worth putting a new one on with the same make as the one on the end of the hose, different manufacturers might be slightly different sizes.

Thanks guys. It only pops off really Dave so wouldn't worry about it hitting anything. It comes off at either end but tends to be at the machine end more often.
Brian yep I'll replace the two ends plus the screw thingy as well.

Get a water stop conector for the hose ... that should sort the problem.
Regarding snowfoam lances...I'd recommend going for one that has a plastic connector rather than metal. The latter tend to wear the threads of the plastic bottle and you will then need to replace the bottle (good luck finding a bottle on its own!)
Any will do as long as it's the right fitting for your PW & has adjustable air flow.
