Snapped wing mirror

My wing mirrors were always solid, didnt want to push them too hard, recently, when fitting the car cover, the driver's mirror has snapped, its still attached to the car but very wobbly.
Without taking it off i cant tell whats gone but is there a way to repair these when the mechanism snaps or is it a new mirror?
Thinking about taking them both off anyway for new paint

You can have a look at these guys who make replacement internals. Also seem to recall @Synclare has done something in the past for these.

Also goes to mention £150 for a stormforce cover and the wing mirror slota are a good 12inches too far forward so when the cover is fitted properly the wing mirrors are being pulled forward.
They have no interest in replying to this complaint

This isnt a nightmare. What your actually seeing is screws, forced through to hold it in place, ontop of each other. Then glue.

I have a few mirrors for sale, but you're right they aren't cheap, neither are the repair kits.

How much for the internals on both sides?
If you think that's poor you should see the left side.
I think it's been cemented together! Including the wiring, so I can't get that out either urgh

I have a brand new OEM unused unpainted boxed drivers door mirror which I might be persuaded to part with at the right price but it wouldn't be cheap..

I understand the prices of them are really high, i have found full internals plus base (fibreglass) for £95 per side. I think that will be the best option as it prevents it ever happening again

Horrible when you discover bodged repairs...hope somebody can sort you the bits you need. You're quite right though about the fit of the stormforce... The mirror pockets are super stretched when its fitted.. can't be good on the mirrors, dodgy repair or no dodgy repair.

One you've sorted it remember to oil reasonably regularly to stop them seizing again.

It worked? so how can it be bodged? The mirrors on the Z3 have caused regular problems and are a nightmare to source (or used to be before the fibreglass repair kit came out) Mine broke on my first Z3 I looked around for weeks but could not find any, the only ones were the M mirrors, so £450 lighter in pocket I had no choice but to buy them..

Ive went ahead with the fibreglass repair for £95. Im only doing the drivers side at the moment. Even though that cement rubbish is awful, it is solid, so until the rest of the jobs are out of the way with it will have to stay that way. Cant tell when the mirror is on anyway. The base is fine.
