My 1999 Z3 has a sports wheel with damage to the cover and the spokes. There are lots of wheels on eBay etc but with the 4 way connector whereas mine is a 6 pin one. So if I buy a 4 pin fitted wheel can I swap slip rings or am I basically stuffed?

All the wiring and slip ring is separate from the wheel, so you just transfer it to the new wheel.
Get it recovered by Royal and repaint the spoke cover? Here’s mine

It can be done but you need to change and re pin the connector that the slip ring plugs into the car main harness. Easy to do it you get the harness side plug from the donor car

The main thing to look is to check airbags as there are two types on the zeds single stage and dual stage, if your car is pre facelift I believe it will have stage while the dual stage is mostly fitted to facelift cars as far as I know

Thanks for the help so far. My mate at the jazz tonight asked why I don't take the Air Bag and Slip Ring from my wheel and fit it to the new one. Assuming the parts fit the wheel there would be no need to cut / alter / rewire anything. My Z3 is a facelift and after more searching it does have the dual airbag which explains the six connector plug. Two for the horn and two for each airbag. I'm off on a short road trip in a week so wheel swap will have to wait until my return.
