Not sure what to tell you right now other than it's doing some weird things, but I've messaged James with some extra information which hopefully will help.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but at least the weather is good so you can all go out for a nice walk!

It's the "New posts" link which makes an SQL query to show the new stuff that fails with too many redirects. "What's new" doesn't seem to call SQL somehow and that works. Not sure if it helps J.

Don't envy you debugging this!

Does the "New Posts" link in Section-Links fail the same on the Forums page and the What's New page?

Sounds like a problem with the way that New Posts are returned and data is stored and used within the PageNavWrapper element - Is there a database problem with how New Posts are retrieved and accessed? Can't imagine something somewhere is self referencing causing SQL to loop within that New Posts process.

What's new returns a fixed number of elements.
Is the problem within the data for one of the recent posts?

Good luck!

Is it a problem with the way New Posts themselves are returned? That returns all posts newest first I guess. What's New returns a fixed number of posts (or a Top X number).
Is there a data issue (in one of the posts?) causing recursion in the data selection?

Good luck!

Sorry everyone, looks like we are having similar issues again today, I know James is looking in to it so hopefully should have it sorted...
