(silly) question....M44 engine

Can anyone tell me the purpose of the pipe the red arrow is pointing to in the attached image?
Recently found it lying below my car following a clean, anyone know a replacement part number?

I'm fairly sure that goes from the inlet to the fuel rail pressure regulator. Best to replace it with a new piece of hose. Any good motorists store should have some of that.
