Part of the liner?
I took all mine off to add to the pile of bits to go back on lol
They're a pain to store though.

It seems to have a little metal bar in it. Doesnt seem like part of the liner unless its torn off somehow.

Success... Took a bit longer than I expected, but the first sill is off. I could grow potatoes in the soil that came out of the dirt trap at the front end. Rust doesnt look too bad. I shall attack it with Bilt Hamber De Ox and zinc primer over the coming days. No holes or really thin bits. I think the outer sill may be past the point of rescuing (see pic 3 below)- and there is a rust patch on the outside, so it would need rubbing down and re-spraying anyway.

Only other query is the plastic bit hanging down behind the rear jack point (see pic 4). What is it, and should I be doing something with it?!View attachment 126621 View attachment 126623 View attachment 126625 View attachment 126627 View attachment 126629
Deox gel is wonderful stuff  Managed to get rid of every trace of rust from my chassis sills with it. Took ages to achieve that tho:arghh:

Just a thought, but may as well remove the speed clips if you haven’t already as they can hide rust. They’re pennies to replace and come out easily with a hook or similar. I didn’t bother with them when I first did my sills, but they ended up infecting the metal I’d cleaned up, so had to do some remedial work recently:banghead:

In the photo, you can just about make out the pitting the speed clip was covering. The black and blue layers were epoxy and top coat I applied the previous year

It's worth removing the shock mounts in the turrets too. Found the Orange evilness hiding behind, looked ok on face value until i removed one.

The Imola inners weren't too bad, cleaned up, treated sprayed with galvanised paint then a filler primer and they were eventually sprayed in Imola 2 top coat when the car got its respray. Old outer sills were binned and new ones fitted.

How much was a respray? Most of my panels need some form of paint work and i wonder if a respray would be more cost effective.

Right I have been succesful... New sill, painted and back on- all ready to go. My final issue is the interior sill trim. I have bought new clips to replace those that broke on removal, but I cannot get the thing snapped back in properly, under hte rubber seal. Lining up all the clips blind is a real pain and I have broken several of the replacements already... Is there an obvious trick to it?
