Back again. Are the small markers on the side of my Z3 (1997) powered or reflectors? There is a powered button at the front (drivers side) of the engine compartment--what does this do? (no owners manual) Thanks.

It would be easier to answer your question re the "button" under the bonnet if you could post some pictures. Are you talking about the lights fitted in the front bumper, or the ones one the front wings? The ones on the wings are indicator repeater lights and have to work. The ones in the bumper do not have to work IF you have front sidelights built into the headlight units .Again pictures speak a thousand words.;)

It would also help if we knew whether your car is LHD! If so, the 'button' on the driver's side would be the alarm system's bonnet switch.

A quick tip - if you want to see if the side lamps are parking lamps or reflectors, try turning on the lights and the hazard warning system, and walk around the car! It is very doubtful that both L and R bulbs would fail together.

If you are in a LHD country with an overdose of safety people, vehicles sometimes have reflectors mounted in the sides, but in all probablity the side-mounted lights are indicator lights, and the bumper-mounted lights should work as parking lights even if your car is fitted with parking lights in the dip beams..

It is worthwhile to obtain an Owners Manual - even as a download - for it contains a lot of useful information.

Hi. I got the side marker lights working and one of the bumper lights (the other was fine). It's a LHD US car--regarding the button under the hood someone said it's the hood switch for the alarm which makes sense. I thought that it might be a switch for an under hood light that was missing. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Got all the lights working, alarm switch makes sense. I bought an owner's manual--just waiting for delivery.
