Should I keep a lid on it ?.

After collecting the hard top and fitting kit on Tuesday from @Paulro in Bristol,I got round to getting it on the car today.

Been for a little drive and I have to say it's like driving an everyday motor with it on.
Although I like how it looks, I think I'll be taking it off.
What do you all reckon ?.

Love it, drove around for three years with mine on and it only came off when my boss decided that he wanted a top down drive to go out to a business lunch one very hot summers day.
Forgot to tell him about using a sun cream and a cap, he came back looking like a boiled prawn.....

I think the Z3 looks great with the lid on mate, it's a tough call to be honest, how long to take off?

I leave mine on most of the time. Then if it's a gorgeous day I stick it in the garage for the weekend.

With a helper it took 10 minutes to remove it,put it in the storage bag and back in the garage..........which is where it is now .

Well, seconds really but its a two man job.

But your problem is you guys like top down motoring too much i can see it living in its storage bag most of the time

You're right there Stevo, unless it's chucking it down, the roof's always down.
If I used the zed regular for comuting in winter,the h.t makes sense. But I don't.

Nice Steven very nice but I am of the opinion of @Sean d. You enjoy your crisp winter days out with the roof down so don't know how much it'll get used.

If your car is subjected to the British winter weather I'd leave it on. Even if you take it off before going out for a winter spin it's serving some purpose. Little point in having it if you're unlikely to use use it for some benefit. Just more garage clutter. But - On the other hand, the z3 folding rear window might not like being scrunched up for months on end not an easy decision on balance.
Got mine primarily to protect the soft top but it will also get used for work once a week during the winter when it's dry.

Was good meeting you, what a fantastic area you live and work in.
Apologies if I seemed out of sorts, it was an early start that day, due to other commitments and I didn't sleep much the previous night .
That padded storage bag is a fab piece of kit b.t.w .

That's what I was afraid of but when the lid came off after three years, no problems with the soft top rear window what so ever.

That's good to know Mike as the rear window is only a year old.

A hard top on mine wouldn't get much use but I love the look so much I'm now in the market for one and I have the wifes approval, after all it is an investment
