After my blowout before Christmas on the M11, I got taken by the recovery truck to a used tyre place in Enfield ( only place open on a Sunday), and they fitted a tyre for 30.00 and I got home.

Just been looking at it and its in really good condition and loads of tread left.....so not sure whether to swap it over and get a new Avon to match the other 3..

The Avon

The Accelera ( ?)

Its on the back near side.

Tricky. I’d say go for it simply to get everything perfect given all the other work you’ve put in:thumbsup:

The existing Avon look nearly new anyway(?) so presumably there wouldn’t be a big discrepancy with a new one, which would be my main concern

Yeah........ok......points taken.....blow the expense..=))...............new tyre ordered.

Yes deffo - on a sports car especially, never mix compounds on the same axle. The chances of them being the same compound are slim.
I really wouldn't want to mix compounds on the car, but some do.
99% of the time they'll be fine but that 1 % :nailbiting:
As the tyre is the only contact you have with the road via the grip, why compromise it - for what's a cheap fix.

Even more so the xDrive cars , they are even fussy about tread depths

Know of a case where budget tyre was correct size marked etc but did had a different radius so wouldnt mix ditto if you have directional tyres

Yes but use them to test the diff out thoroughly first - no point on wasting that cheap rubber :ymdevil:

When we first bought the Z3 it had a Firestone Firehawk Z90u on fns. and a Accelera ALPHA on fns. rear were a nice pair of
Contisport Contact 94Y but 2555 x 40 x R17. All 4 tyres had over 6mm of tread We only found later rears were the wrong size.
We could not locate a pair of Contis for the front and fitted Yokohama C drive 2 car handled perfectly.
