Interesting fact. PCSOs actually have a higher starting salary than police officers. Though that's mainly due to police officers have a starting salary of a truely offensive sub-£20k for putting their ar*e's on the line.
They also have less restrictions on their private lives, rarely work beyond 11pm and can be in a union if they so desire.
Why anyone would consider joining the police nowadays is beyond me.
