Hello,

I am installing a "short-shift" for the gearbox lever.
The white bushing was already a pain to get out.
Taking the lever out, the distance from the "ball" to the bottom is the same.
So it will not shift any shorter...but hey, the bushings are new and it's a full iron lever (unlike the original one).
So it will be better anyway.

Now just need to put the linkage back on.......that looks like it will take some words to be exchanged between me and the level too (including swearing).

Regards, Koen

Not much to see about the shifter
The engine and gearbox will still need to come out (for the roll cage......when the guy who needs to do it will make some time...am waiting since december now) so i might jut wait with connecting it back up at that moment and spair me the effort.

It is possible to bolt these "beams" to the floor.
But I will be welding them to the floor and to the roll cage.
This should give the whole structure more strength

I have an ACSCHNITZER short shift and linkage to install, should be interesting? Will have to check with @Lee as I recall he dropped the trans to do repairs on I believe his Dad's car. But the parts are still in UK unless I can convince Sean to install it in TOO! lol JIM

Nice work Koen, your seat does look high! if it were me I'd be getting the seat to be as low as I could. Put a length of tube from the windscreen to the top of the roll hoop and then sit in with your crash helmet on, does the crash helmet hit the tube? I know the roll cage will be higher than roll bars but it is easy enough to change at this point if required.

It may seem easy enough.
But it's not so easy to get them even lower then they are now.
I can't fit them directly to the ground either.

I was thinking you could weld in something like this: -

or use these across the standard fixings?, with the multiple mounting holes you should be able to get your seat in the position you need.

Just a thought.

In most racing series, they are very reluctant if you change anything to the floor.
So cutting away the cross section (at the front) and the 2 "knobs" (at rear) is a route i didn't want to go down. Which would have been the easiest way. Cut the standard mountings out, and weld in my iron supports.
The seat fixing points are not straight, so they can't be reused as such.
Wanting to put the seat as far to the middle as possible (for clearing the door with shoulder-pads on the seat, and clearing the roll cage next to the door).
The seatfixingscrews now is directly above the original one (center-side)....but i can't use all 4 ( as bmw didn't put then straight).
So i didn't see any other option then to raise them with 3-4 cm.
