I've had lots of fun spending on all the pretty stuff but it really is time I started the service stuff as I havn't spent a bean on it yet, apart from the obvious, plugs, oil and filter, what else should I do, I believe belts and tensioners, but which ones, is there more then one tensioner, I will be doing discs and pads, also, what bushes would you recommend, I'd love to do the full rear sub frame but its a bit too much for me, standard rubber only for me.
Thanks

Front lower suspension arm, rear mounting bushes are common replacements Sean and easy enough to change for a man like yourself mate. Anti-roll bar drop link bushes take some stick and may need replacing. You have 2 main drive belts if you have AC? Water pumps are a common failure over certain mileage (70,000) so changing them is pre-empting that problem, so also the tensioner for the drive belt and the idler pulleys should be changed unless you have proof that they've been done in the past. If you have AC there is a smaller belt which drives the compressor which again has it's own tensioner too.

Tony.

No mate, no AC means you'll have just one long poly V belt (serpentine belt) which drives everything, so you will have only one tensioner (about £50 IIRC) and one guide/idler pulley and the rest of the pulleys are P/steering, W/pump, Alternator as I recall.

So do I replace the belt, tensioner and Idler pulley or just the belt and tensioner
Sorry to be a pain but I am going to start buying everything before I spend it on goodies like a Sub and amp or front splitter,

I would replace the whole lot for peace of mind mate, including the water pump unless you know it's history. Most of the rest has to come off anyway so it's only a few extra bolts.

I think so Sean, unless anyone else has some input? Probably a new thermostat would be sensible too while your emptying the system mate.

When you change the front control arm rear bushings, don't use the standard bushing as it is the main cause of tramlining in the Z3. Use the Z3M bushing. Its got more rubber so is stronger and lasts longer.

+ thermostat housing, not expensive but worth it, they may look fine but just crack as I discovered.
