Hi, anyone done a secondary air pump delete on a M43? I started the job and it's a bit different to what I have seen online. I have the blanking plate for cylinder (thanks @t-tony ) but looks like I need a plug for air box. Also there seems to be more connections/tubes/wires than I was expecting.
Got a plate from @t-tony for my M43 but have never got around to fitting it and deleting the pump. Should be simple enough to do the delete, disconnect and tape the pump plug up, cable tie it away then do away with the pipe to the round regulator on the top of the cam cover, remove the round regulator valve and fit the blanking plate. Cap off any feed hole from the air filter box that fed the pump and the small vaccum hose that fed the round regulator valve No 14 in the diagram and that should complete the delete.
There was more electrical connections than I expected when I started @colb.Disconnected most of it but gave up and put everything back. Think it's a case for Zedshed Cymru!
My airpump is whining so need to get rid
Just disconnect the plug to the pump to stop the whining noise in the intrim, it only runs a short time from a cold start when its connected so its not going to matter with it disconnected. Can take it out at the shed whenever you want, have you got a new gasket for the blanking plate?
The main power lead to the pump is a 2 wire cable with a black rubber connector with male and female sides. The live side is shielded and as Col said is only powered for around 15 seconds after start up. So, if you have noise after that time frame it ain’t the pump. You can use silicone for a gasket.
