1.9 1998 Z3 with leather seats, they move forward everytime I brake, then slide back on acceleration. Only about an inch or so but what's the cause, and most importantly the fix?
Secondly they seem to have a manual tilt / rake adjustment lever on the side, I pulled it today hoping to get at the speaker in behind but the seat moved about an inch more upright then that was it. Now it won't go back again. I'm not expecting 'two-door saloon access to rear seat' kind of tilt, but it was a bit uninspiring and less so if it should be moving much more. I've sat in the seat, pushed my back against it and pulled the lever but no movement backwards at all. Any ideas?

It’s one of the most common issues on a Z3, the bushes in the seat rails. Aceman can supply you with some nice new ones. There are a few good tutorials on YouTube which show how to fit them too.

Tony.

The backrest. Slide the seat forward to make room behind the seat and then try move the backrest. If you've got long legs and the seat is well back then you're not going to have any backrest movement.

If you attempt to change the seat bushings which is a fairly straight forward job take note that the threaded rods in the seat rails are not interchangeable one has c/wise thread and the other Counter Clock. Advice is to do one side then the other. The result of mixing them up is that the seat movement is reversed.

Follow the attached guide as there are a couple of things you MUST do correctly.

Im doing mine now and have hit a snag (s), will do a separate post
