Hi has anyone replaced the seat sensor as my airbag light is on and it says passenger seat sensor I notice you can buy a plug to bypass it is this wise?
Well from my point of view any safety feature that is not functioning or suspected of not functioning should not be bypassed, but investigated. Its a personal choice for me anyway. But it does remind me of my ex wife and her new second hand car that she drove around for months with an annoying ding ding ding ding chime from the dash. Asked me to take a look. It turned out that her handbag, which often had a kitchen sink in it, a pair of knuckle dusters and a can of pepper spray, a couple of kilo's of makeup, several hundred expired discount and credit cards and other things I could never identify. Was not wearing its seat belt...
There are quite a few threads on the seat sensors, quite often it can be broken wires or dirty connections. Do disconnect the battery before breaking the connection to clean it.
Also check for dampness under the carpet, that can be the cause of the poor connection.
The bypass you mention bypasses the passenger seat sensor. If you fit one it means the passenger airbag will inflate in the event of a collision even if there is no one in the passenger seat.
