Hi all, an impulse purchase of a W plate (Yr 2000) 1.9 has just started me on the road to Z3 ownership. A tidy little motor that drives beautifully but as with any 19 yr old cars there are a few things that need fixing and or tidying up.
First job I am looking for any advice on is to get the seats functioning correctly again. The backrests are stuck. The fore and aft, up and down are electric and work fine (apart from the switch in the passenger seat needs replacing - it feels like a spring has broken), but the backrests are manual and no ammount of pulling on the lever and leaning forward or back in the seats will get them to budge. Any other members had this problem ? any ideas on the fix ? I am a competant mechanically and happy to get my hands ditry. Thanks in advance.

had the same issue with my passenger side seat... theres a cable if i remember that had come out of a hole... I had the seat out for other work to do to it and just popped it back in.. need a few tools to take the seat out its not hard but remember to disconnect the battery before you remove it as the airbag light will come in other wise..

Hi Handsomejackuk, thanks for that, it sounds straightforward enough. I'll have a look this weekend to see what I can find. Let's hope it is that simple.

Hi and welcome from London, as above but once you disconnect the battery wait 10mins before disconnecting any plugs under the seat.

There is only one cable but it loops around the pull handle and goes to both sides of the seat
