Santa Pod is having a make over, the Tarmac strip is being ripped up including the runway and they're relaying a complete new concrete strip like all the top drag strips.

This will change all our 1/4 times next year.

"Santa Pod Raceway are pleased to announce the construction of a brand new full ¼ mile concrete track in partnership with Knights Construction Group.

As you can see work is well underway already and we will keep you up to date every step of the way!
Trakbak CEO. Keith Bartlett is expecting big things for the season ahead; “This is a very significant investment for Santa Pod and I believe it shows our commitment to the sport of Drag Racing and to the racers in particular. We will commence the season with a very fast track which hopefully will become one of the best tracks in the world”

My 1.9 is just as fast in the real world as my 3.2 MC, most of the time! Also delivers twice the mpg. Wonder how many mpg the digger gets.:)

So will concrete be more sticky than the asphalt one?

Do they give it a coating of something in the launch area?

Some people won't be able to relate to that, but I found a similar thing with bikes.
My fastest bike in a straight line was 1200cc
But I was faster, and safer, covering ground on a 600cc because I could give it full beans more of the time not having to worry about high siding the thing, or wheelying into oblivion in lower gears.

We are on the same wavelength, although you express better than I (or should it be me!).
