So another long day in the garage.
Took the M out for a run the other day and after about 6 miles I could feel and hear a noise from the passenger side rear...when I found a place to pull over saw smoke pouring out of the rear brake.
After I put it in reverse the brake seemed to release its self...New caliper needed..or so.I thought.!!
I've been.running bluestuff on the rear for awhile now and once warm a good pad and never managed to get them to fade....however..are they really designed for road use...
Stripped the brakes off and the pad had given up.

The piece had got stuck in the brake and was causing the problem..
So blue stuff sacked...!!

A full set of yellowstuff now on..front and rear..all brakes serviced..and all working as they should....

Note to self.....get a life...!!!
Eh up matey, long time no see. Hope you are well.

I was wondering how long those bluestuff pads were fitted to the car for?

Hello old bean...around 3 years Pete..second set I've had on the rear..the first ones wore down uneven on one side due to me messing with the caliper.
We need to get together this year bud

That fits in OK with my maintenance schedule, I'd heard that blue stuff have limited life once fitted to the car. They are unbelievably good considering the price so I'll be fitting them again after about two years of the being fitted. I've had age related problems with other performance pads.........except other pads with similar performance cost about three times as much.

Yes mate, we need a catch up. I'm going to Bill's cruise in May, otherwise I've got nothing planned. I'll probably being going to Oulton park this year, I'll drop you a PM if I do. I know it isn't too far from where you live.

Little update..water pump was rumbling..so new water pump fitted and new belt.
Viscous fan and shroud removed.
Had the tracking done at the same time.
With the initial test all good and the engine runs in temp ok.
Will reinstall if I run into problems.

Edit.

Had a chance today to take her out and give her a good shake down with a spirted drive after all the work done in the last few months.
Absolutely on the mark now ...turn in .. Perfect...no over or under steer at all.
Cornering is flat and there's now no sign of the rear moving around mid-corner...anyone who has worn bushes at the back will know what I mean if they push it hard into a corner.
Good grip on all 4 corners and very pointy....very..!!
No tram lining.
The engine feels very smooth and revs easer without the fan...no over heating issues at all.
Gearbox and diff are smooth with no cluck or bumps....one issue that I used to have was there was a very slight delay when I floored the throttle....its gone..!
The nose lift at....errrrrr something or other speed has gone...she feels planted.
All this put together ....TBH probably means i just going to get into more trouble than i usually do...!
Don't forget...I can't help it....THE BADNESS MAKES ME DO IT....!!!

Have you thought about fitting a lower temp thermostat switch for the front AC fan so it kicks in earlier?
