hi guys, i'd like to underseal my z3 as there is some surface rust under it and would like to clean it off and add some protection, my friend recommended just spray some duck oil over it but i think i would prefer something else to make it look a bit more presentable under there, what would you guys recommend please

I've used both Dinitrol and Hammerite schutz and waxoyl over the years. Both do a good job, just make sure you clean all loose rust as best as possible and cover/mask everything you don't want to seal... and wear a good mask and eye protection lol.

As Zont says, preparation is the key regarding metal work. I found rust in the vicinity of what was obviously visible.

4.5 inch wire wheels/flap wheels on a grinder is good, and for smaller areas a dremel style tool and a variable set of attachments.
There are loads of solutions but prep is ALWAYS the key.

Once rid of the rust and use something like Bilt HAmber 80 to treat and kill the remaining rust in pits, neutralize bare steel and form a suface over the area.

Overtop with maybe an epoxy mastic paint. THEN apply Waxoyl or something to repel attrition as it's a rubbery finish..

Deffo not duck oil as even if you did then waxoyl, it wouldn't stick to any oily surface. Needs thoroughly need de-greasing first.

Depends whether you want to delay it for a bit, or treat it properly. Deffo not duck oil before applying WAXOYL though. Not many covering compounds will stick for very long on an oily surface. Everything says de-grease.

Best of luck

A corded angle grinder can be bought chearly from B&Q, flap wheels wire cups from Amazon. Products you can get from Bilt Hamber, rust.co.uk but dr Wong thread https://zroadster.org/threads/chassis-sill-refresh-or-lessons-in-optimism-bias.26071/ found an other alternative source for epoxy paint, thread worth a read as well and mine https://zroadster.org/threads/time-i-pulled-my-finger-out.28012/ I used quite two different acids for cleaning. The prep does take some time but the results are worth it.
