Seems to be a well known car drowning spot as evidenced by many many entertaining/ sad videos like this one.

Do any of live in that area and can shed light on why it’s popular spot for car drowning?

In the south east I’ve seen ‘road closed’ signs go up for water that’s only about knee high.

It almost seems like there’s a sign somewhere there saying ‘deep water ahead - go for it!’

@Grumps is your man I believe, a bit of a tourist hotspot to watch those less developed drive through and ruin their cars.

Speed was definitely the enemy of the motorcyclist. Pride and pain.

Edit: Video won't play but on YouTube

Just up the road from Thoresby Hall. Ollerton Notts

Was going to say it’s not far from me, about 18 miles ish. Been through it a few times but at sensible speed. There video of a Police car going through at far too fast which probably cost Joe Public a new engine. Hope the driver lost his job.

Tony.

Pardon my ignorance, but why raising the street over the water is not an option?

It is and probably will soon be. In the past it was only inches deep and quite often completely dry, maybe there is something in this "Global Warming" after all. In the meantime it keeps morons and idiots happy wrecking their vehicles.

Tony.

I bet the locals with the 4 x 4's make a few quid towing the idiots out of the water !

I spent six months this year working in Colchester, Haven Road on the industrial estate I was based flooded every time the tide came in as the river is tidal. Its been doing it for forty years, also floods the local electric substation 🤣

I used to take my daugher when she was little to watch the cars going through. If you ever need a front or rear bumper there's usually a good choice of makes at the side of the road after they have been pulled off when some numpty tries to speed through thinking it is the best way!

Know it well, only about 5 miles away. Got to know it very well about 30 years ago in a 2 week old police car!

It's usually only a couple of inches deep so it's quite deceiving just how deep it does get when the water is high.

Also hitting large bodies of water at speed is never going to end well!!

Plenty of new videos - keeps cropping up. Been around there many time, but never through it. Theres no need really as there are ways around.
Close to Rufford Park / Abbey.

Really wouldnt want to drive through it, as might get my feet wet
