Thought I would share this with you. The town wanted to both mark the end of the repatriations and raise money for military charities.

The music video features over 1,000 people in a technically challenging 'one-shot' take, mastered to cinematic quality by Dolby Laboratories. The music video captures the spirit of Royal Wootton Bassett and its community and although the repatriations have now moved on, it's a way the community can still show their support for the families of the bereaved.

It's a cover of "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day.

This is the original Green Day video, which tells the tale of a man signing up for the army, going to war and the effects on those left behind.

Great video must have taken quite a lot of directing to get it right first time.

You missed an opportunity there Gary to get the zeds involved, then it would have been just unbelievable. :D

Yes, it was released as a single!

For those with an Apple gizmo it can be downloaded from iTunes. It's also available through the Amazon MP3 Store for 69p. Spotify as well.

If you click on http://www.woottonbassettrocks.co.uk/ it has about 10 places you can get it from.

Yes, I should have really. Would have been really easy as my ex wife was involved in the project...

Just read this entry on wikipedia, which explains the Green Day origanal video. Makes the point perfectly!

The video focuses on a very loving couple (played by Jamie Bell and Evan Rachel Wood). The boyfriend promises never to leave his girlfriend but they later argue when the boyfriend enlists in the United States Marine Corps. The boyfriend interprets his actions as a way to show her that he loves her so much that he would put his life on the line to keep her safe; the girlfriend, however, is heartbroken, as he broke his vow to never leave her, and terrified at the thought of him being killed in war. The video then shows the boyfriend in battle in Iraq being ambushed by insurgents. This scene is intercut with scenes of the girlfriend tearfully mourning in a quiet field. The video ends on this juxtaposition, emphasizing the pain and heartache of losing loved ones due to the war.
