Started the Z (2.0) today, she started first click no problem, after about 400m the exhaust note changed and it feels like she is only running on half the cylinders, spun around and got straight back on the drive. Depressed the clutch and revved the engine as I coasted onto the drive and she does not seem to want to rev freely.

Does this sound like a common problem and what should I check first. I guess I will need to get an ODBC cable.

Could be a number of reasons, cam shaft or crankshaft sensor, maf boot maybe split. As you've said pop a code reader on and see what it throws up.

Put the code reader on it yesterday and only two entries, both for misfires, cylinders 4 and 5. Fitted new plugs and it fixed the problem. Was expecting it to be a bad cam or crank sensor, but guess it just fowled its plugs from being taken in and out of the garage all of the time without getting a good run out. Old fuel probably hasn't helped.

Bet it comes back and it's the cam sensor. You won't have 2 plug failures on a run.
