So guys I have a bmw z3 2.8. And I've had it over a year now have been fine maybe noticed a few times slow acceleration maybe 4 times over the year or so I've been driving it. But I had it parked for just under 2 months. Now trying to start the car was misfiring and threw up all kinds of codes I got all but 1 to clear after messing with so much. And its the P1145 PD. Seem that it's a
"Solenoid Valve Running Losses Control Circuit " but what the fck does that mean.?
Car makes a clunk sound here and there when it is running or trying to stay running.

Sounds like an issue with the intake Vanos solenoid sticking or it's associated wiring.

Check the connector pins are clean and give them a spray with some electrical spray.

If this has no affect remove the solenoid body, be careful here as behind it there is a shuttle valve and spring which may pop out when the solenoid body is removed. Check the movement of the shuttle valve in its bore, if it feels sticky you can remove it and give it a light clean with some fine emery cloth, they do tend get a build up of varnish from the oil.

While the solenoid actuator is off you can test this as well to see if the pin moves with 12v across the terminals, make sure you have the correct polarity as it may damage the solenoid if wrong.

If yours has double Vanos you can swap the solenoids over and see if the code reappears on the exhaust side, that will confirm if you have a dodgy solenoid.

While the solenoid is off it won't hurt to pull out the camshaft sensor and give it a clean as they tend to get a film of gunge on them.

Hopefully one of these checks may help you.

No problem. Failure of the cam sensor is a common problem and can throw up unrelated codes if it's on the way out. if the code comes back it may be worth replacing the sensor, but go genuine or OEM as some aftermarket ones can be dodgy.
