Hello everyone,
A few weeks ago I posted a thread asking for help with the small springs that are found in either side of the roof. Thanks to the forum I was able to find out that the spare end need to be attached to a thread which is attached to the roof lining. This should help to tension the roof lining. Over last weekend I went out to try and sort this issue out. I was unable to work out how to do it. However, I think a new issue has emerged. The attached picture shows the roof lining where it joins the windscreen. This is close to the A pillar. In the shot there is an aluminum fixing with 2 holes in it. The corner of the roof lining appears to have a piece of metal sewn into it. I am assuming that this piece of metal locates into the aluminum fixing? This would then allow the spring to attach to the thread (as shown in the picture) and in turn this would pull the roof lining tight when the roof is closed.
I think my car has had a new roof at some point. This would account for the springs being detached on both sides. It may also account for why I cannot attach the corner of the roof lining to the aluminum fixing. This is because is has been sewn inside the corner of the roof lining!
Does anybody have a picture that shows what this looks like in their car?
Cheers.
Andy.
