Well this arrived today from Germany.
Looks very pretty , and will look nicer when the Mrs decides on polished stainless or powder coat black .
Anhyooo looks a right pain to fit . Can't find any info on fitting these things . Standby broken clips and plastic ware

I borrowed a set of drum sanders from my mate to remove any roughness in the mounting tubes.
I got one side in ok but had to wait till our Gary came home to hang onto the other side whilst I "persuaded" it in with a lump hammer and block of wood. Took me all of one Sunday
But worth it in the end.
Only downside was all the people on here telling me that they only "style" bars not roll.over protection. Funny, I didn't know that!
My answer was to ask this question, "How many cars have you put on their roof?"

i think they look great, i have already sussed out that the bars are about 6mm out, and will need widening, so rather than a lump hammer im goung to use a 2 tonne trolley jack and 2 lumps of wood and try spread the legs apart,
polishing them will be a pain as i dont have a polishing wheel, so, might just stay as is.

Im going to give it a go today, dam cold outside though, i have to work out how that hop cover comes off first, so i can access the side tower mouldings.

So are the O.E bars, imo. The bars are decent ish, but far too low to be effective and the mountings are insufficient.

Wouldn’t advise a trolley jack, very difficult to control. Bottle jacks can work, but they’re heavy and awkward. If you use a jack, a scissor jack is by far the most controllable. Drill the base and screw a block of wood to the bottom, file a notch, or screw two strips to the block, won’t slide then.

With that design of bar though you want to wrap a ratchet strap several times near the top of the hoop. Pulling the tops of the inner ‘arms’ together will spread the bases of the outer arms. Just use a decent ratchet strap, not one of the thin cheap ones. Nasty when they snap.

After I had cleaned the inside of the tubes I test fitted each of the roll bars into the tubes. Both fitted really well. I used a ratchet strap round the 2 bars and slid them into the tubes little by little. I got them almost in but still needed my trusty assistant to finish it off.

Agreed, I think they would do nothing to protect you if you did manage to put your z on its roof...But, they might me enough to stop rearrangement of your head wear or damage to your melon, when that dirty great SUV behind you can't stop as quick as you can...
