Hi Zroadster friends,

We ( Roger & Jacqueline ) are planning a few extra days around our Eurotour to Scotland.
The Eurotour is fixed from 30-06 till 07-07 starting and ending near Glasgow.

We will be crossing to Dover on the 28-06 in the morning. So we will have the 28, 29 and the 30
to drive to Glasgow. And after the Euroweek we will cross with the ferry at Newcastle on the 09-07.

Any suggestion how to drive to get the most of the UK, nice routes, nice areas
Maybe we could meet somewhere :)

All suggestions are welcome!

change 1 - we will skip the day/night in France on the 27th.
So we will cross to Dover and drive up North on the 27th already to get as far as possible. Or via Wales.

Roger

I would try and drive through North Wales, the Peak District and the Lake District. This would give you the best of British capped off by Scotland.

I live in Troon about 25 miles south of Glasgow on the coast. Not all of Scotland is picturesque, so choose parts that have the best scenery. The border area on the south east side is very pretty, around Peebles, but the best scenery is up the west coast north of Glasgow. Loch Lomond is very pretty but touristy. Further up go from Oban north to Kyle of Lochalsh. Gorgeous. Cross the bridge to Skye and tour the island. Fabulous. North of Kyle drive the road to Applecross, a marvellous experience. Just some ideas.

The week Eurotour is fixed / organised and will be indeed North of Glasgow.
My question is more about the drive from Dover to Glasgow

This will get you to the M6 ready to head North to the lakes and take in some of the Derbyshire Peak District

Would recommend doing the Evo Triangle whilst in Wales. Brilliant road with exceptional countryside views

Spend some time making routes for our 2018 holiday.
Day 1 - transit to Wales
Day 2 - North Wales
Day 3 - Peak District
Day 4 - Lake District and transit to Glasgow

Not sure about the Peak and Lake District if I picked the right roads ?

You'll see most of the best of British on that route for sure. If you head back via the east coast you'll pick up the various great drives through Yorkshire.

With so many Lakes to choose from it would be difficult to drive them all, though your route looks good to me.
