Hi

My caliper went foobar (left front) and my car is on a road trip (wings and wheels in Norway). I have gotten a few options on aroadside repair. Will the a caliper from Zed 1.8 fit on my 2.8?

Cheers

From checking calipers on Ebay they will not fit. Seems to be only from a 2.8 E36 BMW that you could use. A long time ago I was a passenger in a mechanic friends car. I asked him why he was not going very fast. He replied that one of the front calipers was sticking and instead of fixing it he had placed a G clamp over the brake hose. I never allowed him to work on my car after that..

Sorry to hear about the road side trouble..

I think a 3.0l calliper will bolt on fine too as a short term fix (it's a bit bigger)

Hi all

I managed to get it sorted out. Turned out as some of you have pointed out. That a 1.x caliper and brake disc won't fit 2.8, however calipers from e46 and e36 works fine. A local club member ( where I was located with the issue ) had an e46 in his garage, so I borrowed one caliper from his car. Did a repair at the exhibition where my car was displayed with big audience ( no pressure :) ). The repair worked great and I managed to continue the club trip today. We did about 350km today after the repair and worked all good. Still got about 400km till we are home.

Thx a lot for the replies!

Throwing in a pic from repair for your amusement:)
