Rimblades..
Has anyone tried these and what do you think?
Saw them fitted to a zed 3 recently and I thought they set his car off beautifully!

I bought a set for my 3000GT, they wouldn't fit due to the shape of the rim. I tried fitting them to 3 other cars and had the same problem with them all. I would suggest they are left well alone, there have been reports of them coming off at speed and damaging bodywork.
You can get tyres with side ribs that protect the rims, can't think of the proper name offhand but it is a raised band that runs around the sidewall, I try and get them for the wife's car and if possible order the tyres slightly wider which protects the rim more.

Had some on my style 18's and they went on ok and looked ok.
When I accidentally put them to the test against a curb, they peeled away and didn't protect the rims. Just my experience of course.

Steve.

They are actually called rim protectors if you add that to any tyre search it will include tyres with them

I had better be a lot more careful in the Zed especially with the refurb rims and new tyres

I have used them for ages without problems.

on my winter wheels:

and also my summer wheels:

I did hit a kerb once which ripped one off and damaged the wheel lip, but a new Rimblade covered the damage up anyway.. and is cheaper than the refurb.....

Never had any issues with them coming off, after following the cleaning and priming instructions to the letter.

Personally I dont see the point of them when you can buy tyres with the rim protector molded into the sidewall. But the obvious answer is stop hitting kerbs  #spacialawarness

I tried them on a big set of 22" wheels on a q7 absolutely rubbish and I did follow instructions, really wouldn't bother if you can find my review on eBay it's worth a read!

Maybe not for you then...
But they add an element of colour, especially with a dark wheel and tyre combination to highlight the size of the wheel in relation to the tyres, and they hide damage.

I would love to "stop hitting kerbs" especially after spending £1200 on a set of wheels, but when some van coming the other way forces you against the kerb to avoid a head on crash :banghead:
its not just about being careless.....
I've had them for 6 years without managing to hit a kerb prior to that............

perhaps though we are not all #driving-gods that #automaticallyjumptothewrongconclusions

Not something I would use however they look great against the silver and really do add to the overall effect.

Got them on mine, not hit a kerb and don't intend too but if your buying them to protect rims against kerb damage then don't bother as they won't provide much protection. My Grandad had some on his 2 series and just had 4 new tyres fitted and they damaged 3 of them, so when it comes to changing tyres it seems they may need to be replaced. Also it's a nightmare to get rid of the old tape residue.

I fitted them purely to break the wheel up from the tyre and add some colour. They are great for adding colour or even hiding old kerb damage.

From personal experience on my 3 Series GT the sidewall protection on the tyre is about as much use as a chocolate teapot. I've managed to scuff all 4 of my rims with that type of tyre.

It's an absolute nightmare of a car (large and poor visibility) to properly judge where the wheels are. But a completely gorgeous apart from that :)

No experience of the rimblades but they're not for me just because I don't like the way they change the appearance of the wheel.

Oh dear :bored: Pete it was intended with my tongue firmly in my cheek, I am aware unavoidable accidents happen.
