Right, who is up in West Yorkshire?

I don't think you can tax or insure without the MOT can you? in which case i'm sure the penalties aren't worth the risk

I have European international insurance cover, so if the car is in my name?
All I have to do over here is call them up and tell them that I have another car and then tell them that I have sold it when I start taking it apart .

Knowing my luck, probably about £1000........
Worth checking out though! Figure if you take a truck and trailer to get it you have gas both wAys, ferry fees both ways, meals both wAys, accommodations if you need to stay over, £1000 beer money, hookers£??? Jim's airfare over£???

But is that invalidated if you arent complying with UK law?

Good point Ash, I will need to find out.
Only concern would be you get home with no problems, then soon after the brown envelopes start arriving. Sure there are hundreds of ANPR cameras that would spot an issue, then if they bother to check everything retrospectively could be costly

Mike, does a car have to be road legal to go on board a ferry? Is it possible to load the car as cargo , ie have it delivered to the ferry terminal and collected in Holland? Just a thought.

Tony.

Mine just had to be insured, so don't see much difference. The only thing was their people had to load and unload it. I guess if someone trailered it to the boat and another picked it up it could be an option. Time to do the homework Mike!! JIM

M.O.T. failure is the difference Jim, that would make it none road legal. Insurance would be fire and theft but no road risk I assume.

If this is possible, I'm sure we could sort something out HT.

My car could have been loaded even if it had no wheels but was insured. Go figure. Other option is a container pickup. Takes care of the MOT failure. Boy, I'd sure have no problem spending HT's money!! JIM

What was it insured for Jim, I'm curious. It could only have been for total loss I guess?

Tony.

No, any damages that occurred while in their possession as well as damages caused to other vehicles if not the fault of the shippers( whatever that meant) If it had been a total loss it was insured at replacement value in Canada which would have bought me two more cars in the UK, at least! JIM

Just to add if the car goes in a container you can ship all the personal items or parts you can cram in. I researched the ship co and they had a real good record for damage claims and they secured each vehicle securely when you consider the water they'll be going through. Car arrived without a Mark. JIM

If I get the car you can have the hood for nothing.
HT, one question I have to ask, have you actually bought the car???
No two questions, what did it fail it's MOT on?
I'm not a user of Facebook so have no idea what it looks like, if it's a dog of a motor for £800 or its steal!
