Hello chaps,

So I thought I would give the retro cruise control refit a go. I got the instructions off this site. I bought all the bits and, unfortunately, I appear to have a compatibility issue. Please see the pictures. The wiring for the cruise stalk won't connect to the cruise adaptor. Do I need a different adaptor or a different stalk? Thanks for your help guys.

Cheers.

Andy.

You likely need a different stalk switch.

There are 2 different plugs on what looks like the same stalk:
  • Z3 Facelift, Electronic control via CAN-bus to the DME, what you want
  • Z3 Pre-Facelift, Electromechanical control direct to the throttle body, what you have
The switches have very slightly different internal electrical connections. People have been able to splice the pre-facelift switch onto the facelift module. You'll need both sets of wiring diagrams and he ability to read and understand them.

Probably easier to get the correct stalk switch.

Hello Zorg Guru,

Thank you so much for your help with this. Any idea where I could turn up the correct stalk switch?

Cheers.

Andy.
