hi a need another key as i understand there are 3 parts to the key ..the blade to turn the lock ..( i can get this cut ) module to open & close locks ( i can reprogram this ) but also a transponder to get the engine to run this is my problem ..can i reprogram a old transponder or has it to be new ? also where & how much can i get this done help please.

I bought a new blank key and an old key so that i could use the transponder in the new blank key but i have never bothered to try and get the key cut as i was told because its a BMW key you need to go the BMW dealer you will need to take ID and log book. A genuine key is about£145
Not sure if this thread will help. I have an aftermarket alarm so using a universal key was no issue for me - however I offered the same service to Cooper (who is on here too I think) and it also solved his issue - just a thought as it is a very cheaper alternative

thanks for that key cutting & reprogramming alarm isn't the problem i think its programming transponder (chip ) so the ews module will let you start the car with only one key if lost or damaged then the cost will rocket up up & away
