Really. We are too old and time is precious to be spent that way.

I would like to think I could trust someone to do it, but the toolmaker in me says otherwise, Ill leave it till the wet season comes around again, see if I,m of the same mindset then hey ?...
 
I bought the roof and started to do it but then realised I did not have the patience so I took it to a quality shop and the next day "Voila"
New roof :) :) :)
Seriously, I found I did not have enough garage and bench space and no one to help that was competent, I wanted it done right and depite having read everything I could still felt this was not my cup of tea.

I reckon it will cost around AUD $30,000 to get that done. Oh and around 6 months on the seas. :D
 
There is a forum member who has just done it himself. I will leave it to him if he wants to respond.

Put it this way......I have done most things to my car, but putting a new roof on will not be one of them.

There is nobody in Cairns that has done one, Probably there is someone in Australia. It may be more practical to go to Swansea when you look at it like this...=)). Ill give it a go later in the year, hopefully Ill have a bit more feedback from folk that have done it by the time I do..

Its made out of some synthetic material all seams welded etc, looks to be the same sort of material my BBQ cover is made of, and thats been out in the sun for 10 years at least and it still looks good. I dont think what its made of though would matter, Same pitfalls if you are unaware of them...

Tried and failed , take it t a professional. absolute nightmare of a job. tar baby comes to mind...
 
I did my own last year. Determined to at least try it myself once in my life.

It's not rocket science. Just fiddly. And can be sticky with chance.of getting black gunky finger prints on your new roof.

Mine's the grey one with red roof.

I don't know if I mentioned anywhere that I rubbed washing up liquid into the fabric. I'm a messy worker and knew I wouldn't be able to avoid tacky finger marks on the fabric. But because the fabric was slicked up with fairy liquid the finger marks just hosed right off when I was finished.
