As above, I'm replacing my DISA valve in my 19. Z3, and wanted to know what sort of grease I should apply when attaching the new unit. I have had red rubber grease recommend to me, but the smallest amount I can find to buy is 500g. Any ideas?

Many thanks!

Motor Factors used to sell this in small tubes. Might br worth a few phone calls.

Thanks! So I take it you'd recommend using the red rubber grease, as my mechanic did? I've also had someone say that it'll be detrimental to the valve, but that was a fellow at euro car parts who sounded horrified by the fact that I would ever think of using it...

I guess you're just wanting to lubricate the "O" ring seal where it fits into the manifold? If so I would just use a smear of clean oil personally.

I am indeed. I've really only started working on this car recently; I'm assuming by clean oil, you mean just engine oil?

Yes. All you want is for the "O" to slip into position without curling or testing.

I've just been looking at o ring replacement. I wanted to find the correct size for an M54. Which I have and is with me now.

I'm sure I read what the ideal lube is. I'll see if I can find out in my notes.

I had a whole load of useful info from the development thread on another forum of the M54 rebuild kit.
