Hi, looking at replacing my brake discs and pads on my Z3, I can get these made by either TRW or APEC, does anyone know which would be the better quality components, Steve

Hello Stephen,
I guess you are limited to APEC and TRW because of your location?
Many suppliers out there especially on eBay will mail order to you.
Apec are a well respected brand and I would fit them to my Vauxhall Corsa, however I would opt for the TRW for the Z, However if you feel a little more adventurous go for MEYLE, if you call 07707 164642 and ask for Asam, tell him you are a member of the Zroadster forum and they will discount for you.
Give him your reg number tell him you want MEYLE and they will sort for you, other acceptable brands are, Brembo, Jurid, ATE, Febi.
I hope this helps

I use drilled and vented front discs from German and Swedish of Plymouth, and EBC Redstuff pads, both of which are fine.

Yes, Redstuff are happy when really hot, last for ages, and generate little dust - they are a really good road pad for those without track day fantasies! EBC have a good website, and deliver very quickly.

Plymouth G&S are in Valley Road, Plympton. Exit the A38 for Plympton, follow the road to where it is level, and L at the traffic lights, over the railway, and first L. They are about 200 metres on the left.

Another good outfit with a branch in Exeter is Euro Car Parts.

Always try German and Swedish (GSF) before ECP, avoid Pagid braking.

Another vote for EBC Redstuff.

The Brembo pads I had were cheap rubbish and had to be replaced after very few miles.

That's great feedback guys. You may recall my earlier thread on the quality of parts and having a data base to experience share. Thread was titled "Spare parts do we care enough " and on Apr 2nd shared an excel file of comments.
I have updated the aforementione excel file but can only upload it as a pdf. If I have anything wrong or misunderstood could I kindly ask that you feedback so I can amend?
Kind Regards
Brian
p.s. The system will not let me upload an excel file so to view it in pdf open and then expand
