Zelsa's door sills are getting a little bit ropey on the underside edges. Any good ones knocking about?

If so, let me know please!

Bonzo.

Sorry Mr B I was having a Lark. I will keep my eye out, but you have an exclusive colour so best option may be prep and spray original

Montreal Blue is an exclusive colour? Well perhaps it is, but the sills are a little bit rust eaten around the underside edges and ideally I would like to fit replacements. Can you get new ones?

Having a laugh were you? I'd never have guessed.;)

Cheers mate,

Bonzo.

You can get new pattern parts but they are not coated with ecote, so will not last long, I would get a decent set of second hand parts and have repainted, will last years then, and put some 3m film on the leading edges when done

Agree with repaint - did mine a 2 years ago but leading edges now need attention again - where and how do you do apply the 3M Rich?
Also, I have considered modifying wheel arch liner to include small removable section to make injection of protectant ( Waxoyl or similar) easier in the lead areas - anybody else done this?

Do you know where one would find pattern part sills? I've only seen wings about.

Should be simple enough to coat them in something to prevent corrosion then paint?
If cheap enough then might be worth it over secondhand that need work.

I haven't seen any secondhand sills that did not need work at the front or rear edges (been looking for a year).
On eBay etc in the pics it looks ok but the metal is usually pretty well rusted so when you start cleaning it up you end up with holes or chunks out of the secondhand sills.
They tend to get damaged in crashes too hence so few second hand about..

@Stormy_be can make them for you in fiberglass.
Getting them over here at a decent price is the problem...
However if someone sent him the OEM aero sills to mould from then it would be worth the cost to get them over!
Now we just need to find someone with Aero sills that would send over to Belgium...if we got a group buy then maybe shipping would be sensible...or we drive over and fit in Belgium!!

Hi all,

As said on other threads, I have made moulds from my own 2.8 pre-facelift sills.
I have made from these moulds my own sills in fiberglass.

Making more wouldn't be any problem.

Shipment depends on size and shape, so not cheap for sills.
But i do visit the uk from time to time (normally twice a year).
So if you don't need them very quickly, something might be possible to arrange.

Sills have a complex shape making that my moulds need repairing each time.
To reduce the repairs, the mould should bemade more rigid.
I can't make the moulds more rigid as the pieces wouldn't come out anymore (as the sills turn back on themselves, the mould need to remain more flexible)

I made mine in white gelcoat + 3 layers of 225gr grp. Which is more then enough. Even 2x 225 would have been enough (if weight is a crusial factor for you)

I use fiberglass that i source from a larger retailer, principally delevering for boat constructions.
So I know the base products are top quality.

Prices are 125€ (105-110£) each

Regards, Koen

Yes fixing points have remained the same.
It's a exact copy of the original.
1exception to that is the small lip on the bottom of the sill.
It has no real purpose, is not visible, but it make avoiding airbubbles in my grp-pieces a nightmare. So that 0,5cm end on the bottom of the sills has gone.

For pictures, yes i can make some....but not now as i'm in the south of spain for the moment.

I will also make a picture of the end edge on the original sill to make clear what has been modified compaired to the original one.

Regards, Koen
