I worked out how to remove the switch as it was stopping me removing the front carpet. The switch has a long thread attached and a lock nut. I disconnected the switch and then pushed down on the carpet around the base. This area appeared not to have as much foam there allowing this to be done, and you can see the lock nut. I took a small adjustable spanner and slacked this off and it took 12 turns to unwind. So as they say, it’s easy when you know how but I could not find anything on the internet of how to do this! I hope this may help someone else
