Hi,
I need to remove both steering wheel and passenger airbags from my Z3. I have been putting it off, as they worry me, but can't move on without them gone.

I have a Bentley's manual which gives instructions on removing them, but I am still extremely nervous about doing it. The battery has been disconnected for weeks (it is actually out of the car) so no danger of accidental power.

Are there any tips or procedures I need to ensure they can't deploy whilst removing? Or am I just being a wusse?

You're being a wuss!

So long as they have no current then they are safe to remove. Just unplug them.

Nothing will happen. Without power they won’t go off.

Under the steering column is a plastic cover. Remove that to see the wires going into the back of the wheel.

At the back of the wheel theres two torx screws. Undo those. They don't come out. Just loosen them all the way.

You can now lift the air bag. Bit don't pull it otherwise you'll pull the cable. Just enough to see behind and undo the wires.

You can now take out the airbag.

The passenger airbag. I don't know. Maybe you do it up undernthe glove box.

But you'll be replacing the whole dashboard, if I'm not mistaken, as part of your rebody. So I'd guess you need to be googling how to remove the whole dashboard which will include passenger airbag.
