A quick 'How To' guide on removing the Z3 seat from the seat base, not sure if it's already been covered, but sure I read someone asking about it recently.
I have the seat electronically up as high and far forward as possible for access reasons later
I've not documented how to remove the seat but it's 4 bolts - then unclipping the electrics x3 usually - this is best done with the battery disconnected.
Seat out of car
First I remove the seat belt tensioner/holder/harness with a 50Torx bit - can be very tight.
Then to get the (yellow) seat belt/airbag sensor out you need to unclip (prise) the two plastic clips off where the upper and lower leather panels join and prise off or snip the black bungs.
Then two 13mm bolts (you can see the second one at the bottom of this picture with a yellow dot on it) - much easier if the seat is in its highest position
Then off with the side base - with the manual back raiser and electric motor controls - 3 Phillips screws
To remove this side base you need to release the metal nipples on the back rest adjustment cable x2 - a bit of wiggling and maybe gentle open the jaws
To gain access to the last (black plastic) guides that hold the metal cable in, you need to release the motors by unclipping then and then removing the static side of the harness by gently pushing the retaining (central) clip sideways.
