Well @Mint I hope this helps

Use a torx bit (twice) from the rear of the steering wheel, I used a 27, but a 30 might fit too.

Pull the airbag out forwards - the battery on the car was flat as a pancake, but might be safer to disconnect!

Use a 16mm socket and large bar to remove the central bolt.

Use a phillips screwdriver to remove the single plastic screw in the middle of the underside of the steering column and then jiggle until the 2 halves come apart.

Disconnect the 2 electric plug fittings.

Give the steering wheel a yank and move head out of way.

Sorry couldn't take any more pictures, I had my hands full!

@oldcarman recognise this?

@spurs fan in a coupe Andy, those photo's takes me back to when our boys were young. Our eldest had no interest what so ever in getting dirty unless it was sport related. The youngest on the other hand was always dismantling things. He used to sit with me and help strip my old Triumph Bonneville, and boy we had to do that a few times =))

He later went to uni and graduated in Mechanical Engineering. Your boy may tread a similar path.

Our kids are our country's future engineers, and it's great to see them involved
