A friend wants to buy a manual Z3 but is equipped with looong legs ;-) In my automatic Z3 he sits fine when placing his left foot between the dead pedal and the break pedal as enough space is there to rest his leg.
I am wondering: could one remove the whole deadpedal and drive without it? If so, this would be a far better option for him to create more leg room in stead of removing the bulbs behind the seats.

In the Z3 the “foot rest” is o more than a lump moulded into the carpet. If you remove it you will have a hole in the carpet. It is just a void behind the rest.

That's great to hear, more foot space place to rest. Ofcourse it needs some finish or a plate to cover the hole.

Apparently there is no hole. Carpet continues. We need to install an RHD non-footrest cover if it has the bonnet release handle also on the car's left side.

Are we discussing a LHD car by any chance?

So to clear up, the bonnet/ hood release handle on RHD cars is on the left passenger side? (in that case I can remove the LHD footrest and replace it with a RHD cover)

No, the hood release lever is on the right side by the driver's right knee, your passenger side on a LHD car.
