Did anyone see the remote control car transporting the football for the Italy v Turkey game from the touchline to the centre spot at the start of the game?
It was the most amusing thing I have seen for ages, particularly the little twirl it did when returning to the touchline.
I know (now) the tournament is sponsored by VW and there were remote control Mini models at the 2012 Olympics, but it just seemed so complicated and bizarre, a sort of comic ceremonial, to take a football about 25 metres. I think the twirl was put in by the remote operator just to make his job more interesting.
I will certainly be watching out for it at future games to see if the remote operators put in any other 'individual' moves.
