REMAP

I do have to admit I find the subject of Remap providers quite emotive, and is the reason I have not done it yet. I have approached several people now, all ask for your reg number and all so far have quoted for remaps that will give my car 130 BHP, I already have 140? So you have to question there expertise, on this basis and the scenario we have here, it leads me to only use a bone fide custom remap company such as Evolve, so I continue to save my pennies.

Remapping a car is an art that the good ones learn over years of doing, they also have to understand the car in question as well.
Ok some off the shelf remaps may work, but the only way to get it do correctly is by someone who knows what they are doing and also runs the car up on
a rolling road before and after.

Yesterday we collected my friends RS4 from a very well known Audi workshop. The car was with them for a day, before they do anything they check for water /oil leaks and will not continue if any are found. They then do a base run on the rollers to see whats what. Then the car has a bespoke remap as every and I mean every car is different.
After this was all done the car was collected and we parted with over £650 (trade price) for a 17 BHP increase.

I have also seen numerous remaps come out from "bona fide" people that are crap as well and cost hundreds of pounds for a very few BHP.

I wish people would spend their money in one of the right directions, DRIVER TRAINING to get the best out of you and your car. Then people may be able to drive what they think is an under powered car a lot better.

Thanks for the replies chaps I will contact the garage but not too concerned as the car is driving extremely well. Whilst talking too him I asked if he had any probs with bmw remaps before and he did say a couple of times eml lights had come on in the 1st couple of weeks and after a reset all was well.

I do hope that all this advice is unnecessary and that bruce&kim's Z is put right as the guy promised. On a wider note, We need a list of trusted Mechanics, garages and bodywork specialists on this forum, In fact I'm sure there is one somewhere. When we find a good one we need to let everyone know about them. That way members can have more piece of mind when work is done to there cars.

There was one indeed Mike but as no one added to it, it fell out of use as it's a pain to maintain.

This may be something I can implement again, as there is an add on which might do it. Will have to investigate if it will do the job the way you want it.

Would have to be stated that it's all personal recommendations, and no affiliation or endorsement from the forum.

Thought so Gaz but couldn't find it. Something that gives a result same as the competition, The more people that support a garage the higher the percentage. And only bona-fide members can add a new entry. so It can't be hijacked.
