Hi guys and girls,
My wife's Z3 hood has had it unfortunately, when we got the car it had torn away from the frame a little over the driver's side window and it leaked (badly) from the top of both A-pillars. Since then the stitching round the back window has come apart meaning when it rains it fills the hood well, and subsequently the boot with water. To put the nail in the coffin I put the hood down when it was slightly too cold and put my hand straight through the back window.
Now, I bumped into a guy in Euro car parts the other day who happened to have an identical Z3, incidentally he was in there for the exact same thing, replacing a battery under warranty for the second time in a year... but that's by the by, the reason I am mentioning him is because he said there was a highly recommended hood or trim specialist somewhere near the Welsh end of the new Severn bridge, Newport or maybe Cardiff, he wasn't sure.
He said that this guy measured and tailor-made each hood to the car and made it using only the very best of materials, and it was below £500 for the whole job including fitting. He also said he'd found this place recommended on this very forum!!
Now I've searched through the forum but cannot find hide nor hair of this hood magician... does anyone know if he exists or is he the figment of the random Zed owner's fantasy?
Either way I'd appreciate your recommendations, I don't fancy taking on the job myself as I really want it to be done properly and last. Also how much am I looking at for a new, fitted hood including the back window? I have budgeted £1000... will I get over half that back in change as mystery-man seemed to think, or do I need to find moar cash?
Thanks in advance,
Pete.
