Autoglym and Renova make nice kits for cleaning and proofing the latter also sell a dye to refresh a fading roof but can’t do anything for bald shiny spots. For green alge stuff some Milton in a spray bottle and a soft brush if required. There’s plenty of vids on YouTube for caring for your roof
As above, but you really don't need any of them. Just vacuum the roof and wash it and let it dry. The waterproof part of the soft top is underneath and doesn't need to be "waterproofed". Ok you can make the water "bead" on the surface and look nice but that makes no difference.
I have used the renovo 3 stage kit twice now and and like it all the way until the sealer. The renovo is a brush on kit for the clean and dye but is a bit messy when it gets to the waterproofing. Spray is going to be easier.
Fabsil, fraction of the price of autoglym and other products and does exactly the same thing, on line or any camping accessory shop to buy. Beware eBay prices its cheaper direct from Fabsil
Waterproofing means it dries quicker, so you can put it down earlier,
and the roof remains less heavy, which is better than a carrying around a soaking wet rag.
I know a guy who has worked retrimming convertible roofs with Hartz Stayfast (OEM soft roof fabric) for years & years - his advice....
NEVER proof the fabric. Why? Because the fabric is designed to absorb water & wick it away. There's a waterproof layer under the mohair and this ensures it will never leak through the fabric.
If you apply proofer then you'll see water bead off & think you've done your roof a favour, however what you have done is cause the fabric to stay dry which causes it to contract (shrink) and the fibres to prematurely age.
His advice - CLEAN the roof regularly but never PROOF it.
He also cites Renovo as being the #1 product which keeps him in business as their stuff wrecks roofs quicker than any other product.
