Recommendations for removing Mold/Mildew from roof lining please?

Hi everyone.

Hope you are all keeping safe.

Regrettably I have to keep my Z3 outside during the winter months and even with a canopy cover and a couple of damp traps on the inside I'm still getting a lot of Mold/Mildew (I don't know which I have) on the interior (see attached pics).
Do any of you have a method of removing this please?

I had the same issue a couple of years ago when my car was under a breathable, waterproof cover, which I will never use again. This works a treat, also great at getting rid of odours.

Vacuum the liner, apply liberally, leave for for an hour or so, wash off and ventilate. The only downside is that it will smell like a fish and chip shop for a week or two!

You may need something to kill the mould spores after cleaning. Sterilising fluid for baby bottles should work.

Milton seems a popular choice (other brands are available)

Milton or that Vinegar should kill the spores spray and gently agitate it into the material with a softish nailbrush be careful not to ruck threads as you do it. The Vinegar will leave a smell so a few in car air freshners might be a good investment.

I have a similar problem with my Z4. When I bought it last year it had a lot of white marks all over the roof, these I took to be bird droppings which had just been left on the roof and never cleaned off and subsequently hardened on the fabric.
I have tried specialised soft top products like Autoglym, white vinegar and various other cleaning products without much success although it is better now than when I bought the car. I suppose I will have to perservere with these products unless someone knows of a product which would be more effective?

A steam cleaner will do the trick, kill the mould and get rid of the smell without any scrubbing etc. It worked a treat on my fiesta which had mould all over after a leak.

{'m not sure I would use a steam cleaner on mohair, just try milton, or a proprietary cleaner like Renovo, don't forget to re-proof it afterwards.

Steam cleaner is fine for the roof liner and interior, surprisingly good at cleaning
