Hi All,

The rubber seal on the rear window has started coming away and I think I have to replace it.

The cost from BMW is £354 inc VAT! Might as well get a new roof for that price.
Does anyone know where to source a decent replacement rear window which is decent quality?

Thanks!

Interested in a rear window as well. Mine has the zipper around it. Not sure how to take it off but what is a place that sells the rear window? I have a 2000 2.5, manual top.

Just bought one off the recommended seller Prothe via eBay; £86 plus carriage. I'll see what it's like when it arrives but the old one is split and almost opaque, so anything's better.

I got one from Prothe a couple of months ago, and fitted it in less than an hour. Luckily I didn't have any stitching that needed doing. It went in quite easily but I did break one of the zips that you're given, so if it sticks, slacken if off and try again. The second picture has blue masking tape around the edge, because there isn't a bead and you need to glue the flap that hides the zip to the hood. I didn't want to get glue all over so did that.

All in all, I'm very pleased and wish I had done it months ago.

Did the glue come with the window? If not what did you use?

Just looked on the seller's ebay account. Price is now £103.00 plus carriage! He seems to only have one left. I may buy it!

There is nothing wrong with my one, apart from it is blue tinted! If anyone wants to do a trade for a clear one, I am all ears.

You will probably change the roof to one that has a narrower rear window, it really takes the "Z3" look away. The last narrower roof I had fitted was about £450 and transformed the car.
Unless your car has a damaged rear window I would leave it as it is.

I have also replaced rear windows on Z3's, I found the best and cheapest way is to send your old rear window away and have a new window sewn in. So long as the zip is in good condition it will zip back in easily. Again last time I had this done was 3 or 4 years agog and I got 2 done for £100, can't remember the seller but it was on eBay.
